Few things can be as exciting as getting your backpack and setting off on an adventure. It’s a brilliant way to travel and see the world, especially if you are travelling for quite a long time. You will need to do some planning though and you probably won’t be able to do it all from home.
The first thing to remember is not to panic about planning as you go. It’s often the more sensible option as you will discover new things along the way. It may also be difficult to plan certain journeys by public transport using the internet alone – you will probably need to visit the ticket office in person.
That being said, it’s a good idea to have a general sense of what you want to do, so that you can be sure to fit it all in. You can always change your mind and it’s better to go with some kind of holiday plan, no matter how vague. Find out things like whether you need visas, what kind of currencies you need and how far apart places are.
